Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I do yoga?

Yoga is an invigorating form of exercise. It tones and strengthens the body and relaxes the mind, alleviating stress and anxiety and helping common problems like insomnia and bad backs. It helps to strengthen your immune system and improves heart and lung function.

Do I need equipment to join in the yoga lesson?

With the post Covid-19 guidelines in mind, it is advisable for you to bring your own equipment to class. There is some here to borrow if you choose, but you will need to sanitise the shared equipment both before and after use. The minimum equipment required with a link to a seller website can be found at the bottom of the classes information page here.

What should I wear?

Yoga is done in bare feet, and it’s best to wear loose comfortable clothes. Shorts and leggings are better than baggy trousers so you can see your legs and knees.

Can I eat before class?

It's best not to eat a big meal in the three hours before class. You can have a drink or snack up to an hour before class starts.

Is yoga for men too?

Traditionally yoga was an exclusively masculine subject. Many men now practice yoga and some of the most successful sportsmen like Andy Murray, Ryan Giggs and Jensen Button, as well as the All Blacks and many other football and rugby teams cite yoga as being an essential part of their training regime.

Is yoga only really suitable for young, fit, flexible people?

No. Yoga is for all. However, bear in mind that these are general classes and as such they are not suitable if you are pregnant or if you suffer from certain health problems. (See the Registeration & Health Statement for details). If you have any questions, please contact Leo to discuss.
